Randomness...
I got a job is with Campus Dining Services, in their shiniest, newest dining hall. It's not bad, and they don't treat their employees like children *ahem*Kroger..but- I was serving lunch the other day, and this (sorority) girl cam bounding up and asked me what was at my station, which isn't an entirely strange request, except:1. She had to have passed by the cash register on the way in, where there is a menu and sample plates.2. Right freaking in front of me is another sample plate and the food being served. psh whatev (as Tony says)My schedule:Monday9-10 Human Geography 10-11 Rural Sociology (wheee hog farms!)11-12 Lunch12-2 Wind Ensemble2-3 Horn Choir3-4 French4-5 LessonTuesday/Thursday645-230 Work3-4 French4-6 OrchestraWednesday/Friday9-10 Human Geography 10-11 Rural Sociology11-12 Starbucks, strolling to band12-2 Wind Ensemble2-3 Lunch with Alysha3-4 French4-6 Orchestra (not on Friday)Also, I work 5-11 every other SaturdayI'm sick right now. I came down with it Wednesday night/Thursday morning at some time. I finally realized it in French Thursday afternoon. That was lucky, since Thursday night was the (University) Orchestra concert- Rossini's Die Diebische Elster and Brahms 4. Even though I could barely breath, it hurt to swallow, my head being in a fog, and I couldn't hear very well... I probably played Brahms 4 the best I ever have (excepting having to break up certain passages for breaths). Emily also played well, although I can't say the same for the other 3 horns- one of which just didn't show up. wtf! As our assistant conductor said, he'd better be in the hospital or worse, or he's in deep shit with the School of Music.End on a happy note? alright..hmm well, I'm getting paid $40 on Sunday to play 5 minutes at a cute little church downtown, I guess that's pretty sweet.

It's 11:43
The University of Missouri System consists of four campuses: Columbia, Kansas City, St. Louis, and Rolla. Columbia is the main (good) one, KC and STL are commuter campuses, and Rolla has a lot of the engineering/mining stuff. I heard a while ago that UM-Rolla is attempting to change their name to something more prestigious, like Missouri Tech. But then, Tech still sucks...Edit: I have made the connection- (NMU) Dr. Strain = (MU) Dr. Budds
The interview sandwich method: good/bad/good
Aw, it's sooo cute- one of my roommate's cats is ~6 months old and she's going into her first heat! All day she's meowlring around, sitting weird and never satisfied. In fact, I do feel sorry for her, and she's really reminding me of S right now.Now that I've actually gone in for advising with Willet, things are grim. Unless everything falls nearly perfectly into place (i.e. class schedules between the two departments) and I take 19 credits each semester + summer classes, I won't be able to graduate on time with both degrees and keep my scholarship. For music, I need four semesters each of aural training and theory, and also four music history classes. To keep the scholarship, I need to take 2-credit lessons and be in two ensembles. All of that adds up to 10-11 hours per semester. Add to that 3 classes (9 credits) each semester in geography mostly, and humanities (since Mizzou apparently doesn't like my previous classes, thank you very much), with a splash of French thrown in. Although if I have to be here longer, the French minor wouldn't hurt.I did get the highest grades in the class on my first two French quizzes- both 100s. Courtney laughed because I put them on the fridge. I need to grab some gold star stickers. =)Also:

Élection?
oooooh this makes me excited:http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070208.welection08/BNStory/National/almost as much as this does:http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20070208.wxquebec08/BNStory/National/home
eeeeeeeeeeee I attract drama
Tonight was the first rehearsal for 9th St Orchestra's rendition of Mahler 1. It was me, Katie, and Shandy in the back row playing 5-7 horn, with Katie and Shandy next to each other. All I heard was a bit of conversation: "Why are you being such a bitch to me? I didn't do anything to you!" Then I found myself switching parts and I was between them. Apparently, everything was fine after that, since the 3 of us went to Flat Branch with Dr. Spence, and there was much laughter... but! I took Katie home afterward (about 10 minutes ago), and we sat in my car outside her house for 30 minutes talking shop. Her boyfriend then was just getting home and walking up the front walk when I rolled down my window and Katie squealed his name. He looked around, then came storming up to my car, saying something along the lines of, "Where were you!?! I've been looking all over for you! How can you be so inconsiderate?" Then Katie had to get her stuff from my backseat, with David standing right next to my open window, pissed off... it was all very uncomfortable. As I rolled up my window and drove away, I had to scream a bit. I screamed what's in the subject line, actually. Maybe it's just that I hear about a lot of drama from different people and try to keep my mouth shut about it. Even Dr. Spence sometimes... Not that I dislike it (au contraire, R), but I just don't want to get caught in the middle of it. People should like me- not resent me.

I'm like Garfield?
Wednesdays suck... schedule will be forthcoming. I just got home not too long ago and I need to find somewhere to die.But two hours of Brahms can't be all that bad. Two hours of that modern SWE stuff though... except we did mostly Gershwin/other piece with cool horn part in it today.Tomorrow morning I'm going to Robert's Mozart class to take notes for him. It should be fun/interesting/overwhelming. It'll be nice to get on campus early with 2.5 hours to practice after that (and I need it). I do need to be home between 1 and 3 since the cable guy is coming(!). No more stealing wireless from nearby houses. I get 2-3/4 bars signal, but Courtney gets spotty signal. Plus, I'll have TV for the Superbowl now.And it has been decided: my jury piece for the semester will be Morceau de Concert (literally, "concert piece") by Saint-Saëns. My teacher has also hinted that if it's good enough, more oppertunities for me could be in store. ^_^

I have Alzheimer's
It happened again. I remembered something a professor told me, this time something about how physiologically men are able to lose weight by exercising more, while for women it usually isn't that easy. I could not, for the life of me, remember which class it was in. It doesn't help that the fact has nothing to do with any of the classes I'm taking. Finally, when I was walking to lunch, I retraced my steps (figuratively) and remembered that it was my Sociology professor. Off to Iskander's recital. It's like velvet in trumpet form, it is.

The only thing more shameful than the Conservative government’s attacks on my equality as a gay person to throw a sop to its right-wing fundamentalist base is the fact that some Quebec MPs, both Liberals and Conservative, are going to help him do it. Despite Quebec’s being the most accepting society in the Americas towards the equal right of two life partners of the same sex to marry, the following MPs are preparing to support Mr. Harper in his attempt to reopen this closed debate and to undermine the Charter of Rights: Maxime Bernier (Con., Beauce); Jacques Gourde (Con., Lotbinière—Chutes-de-la-Chaudière); Massimo Pacetti (Lib., Saint-Léonard—Saint-Michel); and Francis Scarpaleggia (Lib, Lac-Saint-Louis). Several other Conservative MPs in Quebec are refusing to commit to represent Quebec society’s open and egalitarian position against their leader’s motion.I appreciate the fact that the Bloc Québécois has followed the example of the NDP, the true leaders in this regard, by whipping their MPs against Harper’s homophobic motion, as the NDP required its MPs to support the Civil Marriage Act and its principles of equality and human rights in the first place. However, it is well to remember the Bloc MPs who voted against the Act in summer 2005: Gérard Asselin (Manicouagan), Serge Cardin (Sherbrooke), Roger Gaudet (Montcalm), Gilles A. Perron (Rivière-des-Mille-Îles), and Louise Thibault (Rimouski-Neigette—Témiscouata—Les Basques). All these people have humiliated Quebec by their absolute scorn for its welcoming, egalitarian character. And let’s be clear, this does not only concern a minority, although that would be sufficient to make their positions unacceptable; it affects all Quebecers and all Canadians, as we are all protected by the Charter they’re attacking. Let’s not forget what they’ve done the next time we vote. What can you do? Rally and March for women's rights, for equality, & access to governments and the courtsWhen? Sunday, December 10, 2006 (International Human Rights Day) at 1:30 pm.Where? Supreme Court of Canada, 301 Wellington Street, Ottawa. Why?
